Ladies Rackets

Ladies Rackets

Congratulations to our QC Member India Deakin, who has been confirmed by the T&RA as this year’s recipient of the Lilybet Bowl- the best performance by a female rackets player in the UK in 2017-18. This is the first time this award has been won by a school pupil.

This recognises her success not only in winning the National Schools’ Girls Singles Tournament in March 2018 at Queen’s and, together with Rose Jones (Q, 2017), winning the National Schools’ Doubles title in December 2017 [pictured], but also acknowledges her excellent progress in open ladies’ tournaments such as the British Open and the Ladies World Doubles. Impressively, she can add this prize to the National Schools Girls Real Tennis title that she won at Wellington earlier in the year.

As captain of College’s Girls Rackets, India can be proud of her achievements and the example she is setting not only for younger College girls but for ladies rackets on a national scale. She will receive the award at the annual Tennis and Rackets Association Awards Dinner, here at Queen’s Club this coming week. Congratulations India! – (permission granted to use the picture)
